The holiday
The holiday i have designed for this customer type is a trip to Dortmund, Germany to watch Borussia Dortmund in their iconic atmosphere.
The match will be on May 18th. Flights will be on the day and arrive on time for the game. The flights will be £137 for a return flight with Ryanair. The tickets to the match would cost 59 Euros. The accommodation for this trip will cost £59 per night all inclusive so they'll save on food costs.
This holiday will be perfect for the sport tourist as even though they aren't bothered about money, the holiday is still cheap but still encapsulates the passion for football as is renowned for their atmosphere and fans. This is why the activity and holiday fits perfectly into their profile.
In terms of responsible practices, the only environmental concern would be the transport. The flight there will have obvious environmental factors as well as the transfer to the hotel, However, the hotel has a net zero emission policy in place to counteract the amount that they give off to aid in the attempts to reduce climate change and global warming.
For other suggestions I would suggest would be similar with the footballing aspect but is a little more expensive as it is a more renowned match and it is the champions league final at Wembley. The average ticket cost £160.
Finally, there is another holiday suggestion of going to one of the most prestigious stadiums and teams in the world. Real Madrid is on the top of most football fans bucket lists. And so the last suggestion is to go and watch a Real Madrid game, specifically the El Classico between themselves and Barcelona.
Adventure tourist
name: Liz
Age: 22 years of age
Ability: Liz is fully able and fit with no mobility issues whatsoever and enjoys strenuous tasks and activities.
Social/ economic: money is not a concern for Liz as she grew up in an upper class household and has a high paying job as a lawyer.
Medical: Liz is fully fit and able to do any activity that if put in front of them, however, does struggle with the seasonal hay fever and uses over the counter tablets to ease the allergy.
Fitness: Liz works out every day and maintains a very healthy lifestyle by sticking to a strict diet with no exceptions.
Likes: Exploring places she's never been and challenging herself. She likes long walks in the park or down a canal for examples.
Dislikes: Large crowds and a noisy atmosphere around her.
Dietary requirements: Liz doesn't have any other dietary requirements other than the strict diet that she controls herself.
Considering the budget that Liz has that is up to £10,000 due to her status, i have created a holiday that would suit her.
The holiday would be backpacking in the Australian Outback. Due to the nature of what she would be doing, a hotel isn't necessary as she will be staying in her own tent every night.
The activities that Liz will be taking part in are the exploring of the the surrounding areas and the wildlife that is around her such as Kangaroos.
To get there she would need a flight that will take up a large portion of her budget at £1,248.
I believe that my chosen destination is perfect for Liz as she likes physical exertion and exploring new places she has never been before. Back packing across the outback is a tough challenge for anyone and Liz likes something that will challenge her. The fact that she is fully fit means that she is perfectly able to complete the challenge of back packing.
For the environmental aspects of the trip, the flight over to Australia is 10,538 miles away and so the transport used will be an airplane. Although aviation has taken big steps in terms of sustainable tourism, there is more to be done and so the main let down for the holiday environmentally is the transport. In terms of her activities, there aren't any large environmental concerns other than trampling on the plants.
My first alternative for Liz would be to go and visit Brazil for the rainforest. It gives a real example of the vast difference of the nature around us in different climates and biodiversity. This trip actually works out cheaper as the flights are only £678 compared to the £1,248.
Secondly, Iceland is another great option for an adventure tourist such as herself. Iceland offers a range of landscapes from mountains to waterfalls and lava fields. This option is even cheaper for her at £127.
Dark tourist
Name: Adam
Age: 46
Ability: Adam is fit, however has lost his upper limbs in an accident. Therefore can't complete certain activities.
Social/economic: As an investment banker, Adam is in the upper class
Medical: Other than his loss of limbs, Adam has no other medical conditions.
Fitness: Adam keeps fit by going for runs, sticking to a diet and working out however he can.
Likes: history and learning everything about it as well as visiting as many historic sites as possible.
Dislikes: Large crowds and rude people
Dietary requirements: To keep to the strict diet, he keeps an eye on what he eats.
Due to Adam's economic status, he has a budget of £20,000 and so i have been able to create a holiday fit for his budget.
The holiday is a visit to America to learn and take in the 9/11 memorial in New York. Adam will need a hotel to stay for the night and the New Yorker Hotel is perfect. At £205 it is affordable for him.
To get to New York he will need a flight and Air Lingus is perfect to get there at £598 it once again falls into the budget. With this and the hotel, there is plenty of money left to spend whilst there.
This holiday is perfect for him as he gets to learn about one of the most important events in history and visit one of the most infamous cities in the world.
In terms of the environmental impact on the holiday, the concerns would be the transport, electricity used in the hotel and the memorial site then finally any food waste they may use.
My first recommendation for a different holiday would be to go to Poland and visit the concentration camp of Auschwitz. This holiday gives an insight of other historical moments. For only £99 Adam can fly to the local airport of Krakow in Poland.
Finally, another holiday to Chernobyl in Ukraine. It is another catastrophic accident in history that is renown across the world. For £380 it is another that falls under the budget.
