Adventure Tourism consists of the exploration or traveling to remote areas where the unexpected should be expected. This tourism type is rapidly growing as more people want something more than a typical beach holiday as they want to go on adventures and discover what no one else has. Adventure tourism often involves an element of risk as well as mental and physical endurance. There are many different destinations for this type of tourism including but not limited to.

Adventure tourism is split into three different types.
Physical adventure Tourism
Physical adventure tourism is when the activity requires physical exertion. Some examples of this types of adventure tourism are trekking, mountain biking, rock climbing and white-water rafting. This type of adventure tourism favors younger, more athletic people that are physically fit.
Nature adventure tourism
Nature tourism focuses on the nature side of tourism with wildlife experiences and conservation. Some examples of nature tourism is bird watching, safari tours and or snorkeling.
Extreme sports
Extreme sports are sports that take you out of your comfort zone, adding extra risk compared to the normal sports that people participate in. Such sports include, bungee jumping, sky diving and paragliding.
